On January 17, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, Fuad Naghiyev, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Kairat Sarybay.
The discussion focused on tourism cooperation prospects within Azerbaijan’s 2024-2026 CICA chairmanship, which was officially assumed during the 7th Meeting of the CICA Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
Both sides exchanged views on tourism-related proposals submitted by the State Tourism Agency to be incorporated into the official CICA concept document.
Secretary General Kairat Sarybay expressed his appreciation for Azerbaijan’s successful hosting of COP29, highlighting the high-level organization and hospitality demonstrated during the UN Climate Change Conference. He also noted CICA’s interest in organizing media tours to Azerbaijan for journalists from CICA member states to enhance awareness of the country’s tourism potential.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to enhance collaboration within the framework of the "Circular Green Tourism in CICA Countries" initiative, ensuring its active implementation throughout 2025.
Established in 1992, CICA was introduced during the 47th session of the United Nations General Assembly as a platform for promoting peace, security, and cooperation across Asia.
